UFT-Plovdiv hosted a workshop on the E-Food project, combined with the third meeting on the project. The oldest living city in Europe - Plovdiv - received the participants of the project in the period 22.10.2024 - 27.10.2024. Representatives of all partner universities participated in the meeting and training - colleagues from the University of Debrecen, Hungary; colleagues from the University “Claude Bernard”, Lyon, France; colleagues from the University of Zaragoza, Spain; colleagues from the University “Lucian Blaga”, Sibiu, Romania.
The project meeting was opened by prof. Galin Ivanov, DSc, Rector of UFT, and the Dean of the Technological Faculty, prof. Venelina Popova, DSc. The participants in the workshop were also welcomed by the coordinator of the project - prof. Georgi Kostov, DSc.
After the official part, the participants started working on the project activities. During the first working day of the meeting, an assessment of the implementation of the project was made and the training materials created within the first two years of the implementation of the project were commented on. Special attention was paid to the elements of the distance learning platform developed by the Bulgarian team. These elements represent databases of various products, processes, raw materials and innovations through which students will be able to create the so-called case studies and to participate in the virtual competitions to create new food products.
During the second day of the meeting, representatives of the scientific team of the project took part in the traditional scientific conference "Food Science, Techniques and Technologies", which is annually organized by UFT-Plovdiv. As in the previous edition of the conference, the E-Food project was a co-organizer of the event. Within the framework of their participation in the conference, the teachers had the opportunity to share their observations and scientific developments in the field of new technologies for food development.
The third and fourth working days of the meeting were devoted to discussions related to the organization of the virtual competitions and the e-rapid courses for continuing education, which are the main indicators of the project's implementation. Through these two elements, students and specialists will be included in the project to test the working materials created during the implementation of the project. The participants from the partner universities also visited the educational and production bases of the UFT-Plovdiv, where they not only had the opportunity to comment on the training opportunities, but also enjoyed various food products produced by the students at UFT-Plovdiv.
The discussions on the project continued in informal atmosphere during the official dinner of the scientific conference, the tourist tour in Plovdiv organized by Assoc. Prof. Ivan Obreshkov, PhD, and, of course, during the visit of all the official guests of the scientific conference to the wine complex "Starosel". The combination of traditional Bulgarian cuisine and excellent wines contributed to the good atmosphere and fruitful work.
